EXOTIC - tropical - ORGANIc

We are a lightful, enthusiastic and devoted team based in London. We have decided to set up a little fruit company named fruitfull due to our love and passion for fruits. We strongly believe that fruits have the power of interfering positively in to our body and lifestyle by providing a more balanced and healthier diet. This personal observation gave us the brilliant idea to share the happiness and joy that fruits brings in our everyday life.

Fruitful came from the idea of bringing to London the delicious and unique taste of exotics fruits full of extraordinary tastes.

exotic

These are fruits which are not native and that are cultivated in foreign countries. They are only available at their place of origin. As exotic fruits on Fruitful you can find kiwi and carambola and jack fruit. Their strangeness and rarity is certainly what makes them attractive.

If you are someone curious, consuming an exotic fruit will allow you to experience new sensations while preserving a perfect health

tropical

These are fruits which come from the tropics defined as the region of Earth surrounding the equator. Unlike soils in temperate regions, many tropical soils do not retain chemical fertilizers well. The nutrients are easily washed out from the soil or evaporate as gas. The major part of the applied fertilizers may subsequently be lost. Here at Fruitful you will find banana, pawpaw, guava, jack fruit, carambola among other tropical fruits.

What makes tropical fruits so particular and much liked are the conditions in which they grow. Some primary are:

  • The full sun for best flowering/fruiting.

  • No salt laden winds: most fruit trees do not tolerate them.

  • Land is suitable to growing. Low-lying areas and poor fill soils need to mound up with clean sand.

  • Soils or soil mixes are well drained with good aeration, don’t plant in low areas where water collects and doesn’t drain.

ORGANIC

For some people organic agriculture is “farming without chemical fertilizers and pesticides”. This is short and concise, but misses important characteristics. Organic agriculture follows the logic of a living organism in which all elements (soil, plants, farm animals, insects, the farmer etc.) are closely linked with one other. Our fruits respects the standards of organic farming and that’s why they have a better taste than conventionally grown fruits.

Strict standards means that organic fruits and vegetables are grown without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetic modification, ionizing radiation.

Fruitful’s fruits have the organic DEFRA (Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) certification.

Why prefer organic food?

There is plenty of evidence that there are more vitamins, minerals and omega-3s in organic produces - albeit sometimes just a small difference but a higher content of nutrients means healthier than conventionally produced foods. A systematic review showed higher levels of vitamins and antioxidants in some (not all) organic fruit and vegetables as well as lower levels of pesticide residues and heavy metals.

Why does organic cost more

  • Organic farmers don’t receive federal subsidies like conventional farmers do. Therefore, the price of food reflects the true cost of growing.

  • Organic farms are usually smaller than conventional farms and do not benefit from the economies of scale that larger growers get.

  • Organic farmer is more labor intensive because methods such as compost application and anti-soil erosion landscaping are very labor intensive.

In the United Kingdom the demand for organic products is currently increasing by 40% annually, whereas supply is expanding by only 25%. Moreover, 80% of organic fruits and vegetables sold in the United Kingdom are imported.  Let’s not forget the most important factor in your diet, as far as fruits are concerned, is to vary as much as possible the food you eat.

NATURALY GROWN

Many of us are confused between organic and natural. Naturally grown fruits from Fruitful have been planted in an environment free from chemically added compounds. While organic is a characteristic every food which meet very strict standards (such as no pesticides, no synthetic fertilizers, no sewage sludge, no genetic modification and no ionizing radiation) based on federal organizations rules, who are licensed to do farms inspections. For example a fruit that you sew in your backyard without additional products but drinkable water and regular sunrays is a naturally grown fruit. Here at Fruitful we provide you those fruit coming straight from the bowels of Mother Nature.
